bob pendarvis: song lyrics

little miss underestimated (from the album A GIRL I USED TO KNOW)

music and lyrics by bob
i wrote this song for all the girls i've taught in my comics classes who felt like they would never amount to anything (mostly because their fellow students were constantly putting them down or not taking their work as serious as the "cool kids"). i'm happy to say that i've known many girls who surprised everybody by getting work after graduation...success really is the best revenge...hee hee!
none of us paid much attention
to the girl sitting all the way in the back
perfectly pretty, but a little too shy
never wore any colors but black

little miss underestimated
who would have bet on you?
little miss underestimated
nobody had a clue

she never won any prizes or awards
like the other kids in her class
never skipped a day
never went out at night
worked hard to do no more than pass

little miss underestimated
who would have bet on you?
little miss underestimated
nobody had a clue

we all thought this other guy
was gonna do real well
it just goes to show sometimes
you just can never tell

years have slipped away
school days seem like just a dream
fading more and more every day
still a little shy, finds it hard to believe
how much her fans are willing to pay

little miss underestimated
who would have bet on you?
little miss underestimated
nobody had a clue
