bob pendarvis: song lyrics

what's the story behind this song? well, i was in a songwriting kinda mood and i sat down to come up with some lyrics. the title popped into my head and the rest of the lyrics came fairly swiftly after that. the music fell right into place as i was writing the lyrics, so not much work there. hmm...not much of a "story" there, but that's how the song came together. i ended up asking my dad to record his own version of the song and included it on the LOW COUNTRY LADY album. the thing is, in the back of mind i think i was always planning on having him sing the song. the title just has "dad's song" written all over it. i've recorded a bunch of different versions of the years, but i'm happiest with both of the versions on this album.
